Founded in 2010, Let There Be Rock Schools are rooted in the foundation that everyone has an inner rock star, whether you are 5 or 95. Music is about finding your voice, your confidence, and your people. We have been here from day one to discover hidden talents, foster natural abilities, and help grow and support friendships. In this supportive community, musicians can embrace their authentic selves and confidently express them to the world.

Growing as an individual artist is essential, but we also teach our students to be a part of something bigger through our band program. We match musicians of varying skill levels of similar age and interests into bands that grow as a group and receive real-world stage performance experience throughout the year. Being part of a group encourages teamwork, creates lasting bonds and strong communities, and helps our musicians find that true sense of belonging.

Our instructors are all elite musicians who share the Let There Be Rock Schools ideals both in and out of the classroom and on and off the stage. Their real-world performance and gigging experience bring technical skills and musician-to-musician mentorship to our students.

We know the power music has to change lives, that’s why we do it. Whether it is your first time picking up an instrument or you have some experience and want to join the band, we’re the community you’ve been searching for.

Scott Marceron & Kela Sicilia-Marceron

MEET SCOTT MARCERON

Founder & CEO

Scott Marceron has been in the music industry for over 30 years. He started playing bass in local Frederick bands at the age of 15. Scott co-founded the successful band Shaft, procured an independent record deal, and toured behind the release of their full-length album Quint. During this time, Scott handled most of the band’s business, which prepared him for his next opportunity. Scott was hired as the assistant manager for Uppercut Management, based in Philadelphia. Uppercut Management handled the careers of Kid Rock, Liquid Gang, Tidewater Grain, and Stereomud. During this time, Scott became an expert in the music industry. After two years in Philadelphia, Scott returned to Maryland. He opened his own artist management company, Higher Ground Management, while also holding a scouting position at Roadrunner Records in New York City. Scott brought in new and undiscovered bands to the label. One of these bands was Sinch from Philadelphia. Sinch was the first to sign with Scott’s management company and his first major label signing. Sinch released their first full-length Roadrunner Records album in 2002. Scott procured national tours for Sinch with artists such as Chevelle, Seether, and Stone Sour, to name a few.   Scott partnered with Larry Mazer of Entertainment Services (Kiss, Breaking Benjamin, Lamb of God) for his subsequent major label signing. Scott and Larry brokered a major label deal for their first co-managed band, Automatic Black, with Arista Records in 2004. Scott not only brings his extensive knowledge and his relationships within the record industry to the Let There Be Rock Schools for future guest speakers and clinics and to help the students achieve their dreams of being performing musicians but also has a passion for developing the next generation of musicians.

MEET KELA SICILIA-MARCERON

Founder & CEO

Kela Sicilia-Marceron founded the “Let there Be Rock Schools” with her husband over 14 years ago and continues to co-direct and manage the business and operations with him.  Creating and managing the rock school is not surprising because Kela was born into the music, dance and performing arts world.  Kela and her sisters have helped grow the family Elower-Sicilia Productions (ESP) Dance, music and performing arts company since childhood. She continues to choreograph and teach award winning routines, musicals, pageants and productions.  Kela stays active in the dance and music schools and prior to the school opening worked as a wedding singer and voice coach, pursued her college education, and raised her family of 5 children.  Additionally she not only ran, but grew the music schools and operations while her husband was on the road managing their oldest son’s band: “Bad Seed Rising” while they were on their “Bigger Than Life” and “Warped Tours” in 2013 and 2016.  Kela graduated from the visual and performing arts program at Thomas Johnson High School and Frederick Community College before transferring to Mount Saint Mary’s University. Kela’s performances as a dancer and singer include among others performances, performing with the Tap Sounds Underground and the Clifton Drum Trio in a show at the Valentine’s Theater in Ohio, and performing in the National Institutes Production “Phat City” at the Kennedy Center for President Clinton. Kela has received numerous voice, various dance scholarships and has studied in Los Angeles and New York. Kela also was a member of a Washington DC professional dance company and is a Power Pilates certified teacher. Nationally, Kela is known and respected as an award-winning choreographer with numerous national choreography awards. Fun fact, once the decision was made to “go for it “ and open the school Kela and Scott went “all in” so much so that in the start up year their youngest son was born and as a family named him “Rocklin”.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

We believe in the power of performance-based music education. Our lessons are customized to each student; we tailor each lesson program to the interests and level of each musician, making it fun and applicable. For those who want more than individual lessons, 1:1 lessons can be paired with group band practices that culminate in live stage performances at local venues, festivals, and community events throughout the year. Other music schools focus solely on individual instruction. At Let There Be Rock Schools, we know there’s more to music than just a musician. Through our community, we foster the development of the whole student so they not only thrive on stage but also at school and in their personal life through improved relationships and self-confidence.

Age is just a number and at Let There Be Rock Schools we know it’s never too late to let your inner rockstar shine, that’s why we offer classes for adults too.  Whether you played music in high school and life took you in a different direction or you just decided that you’d like to try something new, our expert instructors will get you the skills you need to be show ready.  We also offer band experiences for our adult musicians to help get you booking gigs in no time.
