Everyone Belongs on This Stage: Our Leesburg School Is Now an Equality Ally

There's a line we come back to a lot around here: we didn't set out to build just a music school. We set out to build a place where anyone can walk in, pick up an instrument, join a band, and feel like they belong — exactly as they are.

That's why we're proud to share that Let There Be Rock Schools Leesburg is now an official Equality Ally through Equality Loudoun's Allies Program.

What that allyship means

Plenty of places will slap a sticker in the window and call it a day. Equality Loudoun does it differently — and that's exactly why this one matters to us.

The Allies Program isn't a sign-up. It's a real process. To be recognized, an organization goes through review that can include employee feedback, an industry-specific questionnaire, site visits, and leadership conversations — all to confirm that the support is genuine, not just for show. There's also a contribution that funds LGBTQ+ advocacy work right here in Loudoun County.

So when you see that Equality Allies badge on our door, it isn't decoration. It's a promise. In their words: anywhere you see this, you're safe.

Why this fits who we are

From day one, our schools have been about more than lessons and chord charts. We've always wanted the space between the amps and the drum kits to be a community center in the truest sense — a spot where students from every background find their people, their sound, and the confidence to get on stage and be fully themselves.

Music has a way of doing that. It doesn't ask where you're from or who you are before it lets you in. It just asks you to show up. We want every student, parent, and family who walks through our Leesburg doors to feel that same welcome the moment they arrive.
